cheaper by the dozen

We're a little less than 3 weeks away from the BB12 premiere, and I had been getting all excited and getting ready for another year of MyBB-POV.  The show has been announced for Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday nights, we're seeing that there will be a "summer camp" theme and everything is moving along as usual.  BBAD will be back on ShowtimeToo and the livefeeds will be back on SuperPass.

That's the good news.  The potentially bad news is that Real has redesigned the way the feeds run.  Instead of being launched from within Real Player, they will now run in a web browser using Flash.  This is a perfectly good change as far as watching an individual feed, but it throws a major wrench into the 3rd party applications that allow us to run multiple feeds simultaneously and take screen caps.

Until the feeds actually start we won't know what will and will not work.  I'm hoping we get a couple days of the NASA stuff or whatever on pre-feeds as we have in the past.  One way or another the site will be back.  You'll definitely get my snarky commentary and otherwise unique BB point-of-view.  But the screencapping is a big part of what I enjoy about doing the site, so if that's not an option, I'm going to be quite disappointed.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, if Real is deliberately trying to stop screencapping, I just don't get it.  I understand that they don't want videos posted since people could not pay for the feeds and watch the videos instead.  But with caps, you're watching and paying for the feeds, so it's not costing them anything.  And for people like me, the ability to take caps actually makes us watch more (though I don't suppose they care how much we watch once they have our money).  Maybe I'm worrying for nothing, and everything will work fine....as I always say, we'll know when we know.

In the meantime, I'm going through and filling out the site for past seasons.  Look for new links in the sidebar.

Sorry if my first bb12 post is kind of a downer.  I was really looking forward to the new season.  This site has been doing well and I've been enjoying doing it, having established a great system over the past several years.  But even if the site has to change, let's hope for a great BB with all the drama, entertainment and excitement that we can handle.
